Mackay teens get 'Mighty Foods' for thought on campus

Seventeen Year 10 students from Mackay State High School recently experienced a rehearsal of the new Mighty Foods musical and a demonstration of new medical imaging equipment, including the ultrasound scan of an unborn baby.
Both activities featured during their recent two-day visit to CQUniversity Mackay.
As the first Outreach program CQUniversity has run for this school, the schedule included plenty of points of interest around the campus as well as sessions on academic writing and career planning.
Outreach Program Officer Robyn Kleinhans facilitated the school visit, which is part of the Widening Participation effort.
Outreach Coordinator Stacey Doyle says "this year the team will engage with 31 high schools and 107 primary schools considered low socio-economic, rural and remote and Indigenous".
"The intent of the deep programs offered is to immerse students in experiences that will activate their thinking about higher education and debunk myths commonly associated with studying a university degree.
"The Mackay State High School students acquired Moodle skills in preparation for their journey as undergraduate students."
