Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Staff and students thanked for role during Regional Parliament 

Our Bachelor of Learning Management staff and students volunteered as Education Guides for the recent Regional Parliament Sitting in Mackay.

Across the three days, over 2500 local school students attended the sitting and engaged with various interactive tasks facilitated by BLM students.

The volunteer staff and students were officially recognised at a special ceremony where the Speaker of the House, the Hon John Mickel (pictured here with some of the 50 students who participated) thanked and praised them for their commitment to volunteering. They were presented with certificates of appreciation and a gift.
