Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mackay staff member wins title! 

CQU Mackay Administration Assistant Geoleen Feeney was crowned Mackay Region Miss Showgirl for 2002 at a gala ball on Saturday night.

PhotoID:68 Geoleen beat out eight other entrants to win the title which was held at the 500 Pavillion at the Mackay Showgrounds. As part of her duties as Miss Showgirl Geoleen will attend the Mackay Show in June and help with the prize-giving on People's Day, represent Mackay at other regional shows and represent the Mackay region at the CQ titles in Gin Gin in July.

Judging was held over two weekends and included interviews on current affairs, Mackay knowledge and Show Association knowledge. Saturday night was the Showgirl Ball which included a personal on-stage interview with host for the evening, Seven Mackay’s Pat Hazel.
