Lecturer Takes PBL Skills to Malaysia

Prue Howard has been invited as a discipline specialist to join four other facilitators in delivering a week-long workshop to 200 academics on interactive learning and problem-based learning in Malaysia.
The workshop, to be held at Bukit Tinggi in the highlands near Kuala Lumpur, has been developed for the University of Malaya. The full facilitation team consists of Professor Penny Little, Jane Conway, John Bentley, Prue Howard and Tracey Winning, on behalf of PROBLARC (Problem Based Learning Assessment and Research Centre), University of Newcastle.
In spite of the up-market resort location (see picture), it will be no holiday for Prue, as the team will be working long hours—8:00 am to 11:00 pm each day. However, Prue remains philosophical, saying “The whole exercise will be a learning experience (as is everything we do), and should strengthen our international reputation as educational leaders.”
