Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Long-term volunteers awarded 

Two of CQUniversity's library volunteers, John Rowland and Rob McFarlane  were recently awarded certificates honouring their contributions to the University's library services.

John Rowland, a member of the Rockhampton University of the 3rd Age, has devoted a decade to assisting the CQ Collections Librarians.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Angela Delves told a gathering of Library staff and supporters, "As much as being appreciated for his readiness to help others , plus the work he has done and his sharing of ideas for sourcing local information, John is appreciated by those who work with him  for his quiet and gentle manner."

Acknowledging Rob MacFarlane's contribution, Professor Delves said his talents are extremely valuable to the Collections staff, and his courteous and gentlemanly manner makes all who visit the Library feel most welcome.

Professor Delves  thanked John and Rob  for their contributions to CQUniversity Australia, emphasizing " ... how lucky we are to have them as part of our University family."
