Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Eidos events scheduled 

Central Queensland University has joined Eidos – a new consortium of Queensland universities, government and non-government agencies committed to improving education and social change research, policy and practice.

Two Eidos events have been scheduled.

Partnerships that Benefit: Schools and Communities, Brisbane, August 11, 2005.

Professor Ira Harkavy (Associate Vice President and founding director of the Center for Community Partnerships in University of Pennsylvania) will be visiting as a Senior Fullbright Scholar during the month of August. As part of this visit the Australian Consortium in conjunction with Eidos, is running several workshops on schools-community partnerships. What is a University? Australian Consortium Symposium, Brisbane, August 12-13, 2005.

This Symposium will bring together as scholars, policy makers and practitioners around the question "What is a university?" The Symposium will also feature an early career researcher Masterclass with Senior Fulbright Scholar, Professor Ira Harkavy on "Doing Collaborative Research." Please let your postgraduate students know about this event (numbers are limited to 20). Numbers are limited for the symposium so register early.
