Gladstone community cheers graduates in evening ceremony

Fifty-nine graduates processed up Gladstone's main street accompanied by 4 bagpipers and the cheers of their local community prior to CQU's graduation ceremony last Thursday evening.

Held at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre, it was the first evening ceremony held by the campus.

Guest speaker, Mr Randall Byram, CEO of the Gladstone Economic and Industry Development Board encouraged the graduates to become critical thinkers and the creators of new ideas regardless of popular opinion.

A highlight of the evening was a musical performance by Shelly Mills who sang 'Reach' by Gloria Estefan accompanied by Angel Abraham on piano. PhotoID:4284, Gladstone graduates process into the Gladstone Entertainment Centre at the ceremony held on May 24 2007

Graduate representative, Susan Williams, spoke of each graduate's journey to success, providing them with a wealth of learning experiences that will assist them in their future lives.  Ms Williams also mentioned the support of family, friends and CQU staff as an important part of the graduates' success.

The ceremony was followed by a supper in the foyer of the Gladstone Entertainment Centre.
