Campus hosts gifted secondary students

CQUniversity Rockhampton recently hosted a campus experience for gifted secondary students drawn from the Central Queensland region.

The visitors used our Harvard Lecture Theatre for their project presentations, pitching ideas for a new horror movie.

CQUniversity staff member Wayne Jones, who helped to judge the presentations, said they featured titles like Haunted House and Terror Time, giving a fair indication of the type of film these young people are ready to produce.

"The students came up with some interesting and terrifying ideas for their films which they presented with great enthusiasm and style.  All of the groups put in serious thought and there was no shortage of imagination, blood and horror," Wayne said.

The overall winner was the group who pitched Devil's Ward, a truly terrifying scenario of isolation in a psychiatric ward deep in the forest.

"They all received top marks for imagination and enthusiasm," Wayne said.
