Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Fiji hosts first graduation since move to new campus 

Central Queensland University is hosting its first Fiji graduation since its move this year to a new campus (at 3rd Floor, 1 Ratu Dovi Road, Vinod Patel Plaza, Centrepoint, Laucala Beach Estate, Nasinu).

This move has occurred because the site CQU has occupied since 1998 was sold last year by TELECOM Fiji to the University of the South Pacific (USP), which requires vacant possession by April 1, 2004.

A total of 45 graduates will attend the CQU Fiji graduation, from 4.30pm on April 5, at the Suva Holiday Inn.

Fiji and Pacific Islands Trade Commissioner Ross Bray will be the guest speaker and guests will include Vice-Chancellor Professor Glenice Hancock and Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate) Professor Jack Wood.

After the graduation, awards will be presented to Dipan Chauhan, Faculty of Informatics and Communication; and Gerald Tyson Wong, Faculty of Business & Law, to recognise their study commitment, mentoring capacity, campus participation, potential for leadership, commitment to cultural diversity, creative talent and enterprise and their ability to respond to challenges.
