Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU supports recognition of management excellence 

The Australian Institute of Management, supported by CQU, was proud to award John Lever with the Manager of the Year and Darren Pirie the Young Manager of the Year Award at the 2006 Management Excellence Awards evening in Rockhampton recently.

PhotoID:3494 CQU is a regional partner of AIM and host of the AIM secretariat (via the Faculty of Business and Informatics).

The awards night acknowledged and awarded local managers who have excelled in their fields. Over 90 guests attended the Friday evening event.

Bevan Slattery, former Rockhampton resident and now CEO and co-founder of PIPE Networks Ltd, was the guest speaker for the evening. PIPE Networks is a highly successful telecommunications infrastructure company, whose key employees originated from the CQ region.

Both Lever (owner/manager, Koorana Crocodile Farm) and Pirie (group co-ordinator/station manager, Queensland Ambulance Service) will proceed to the state finals of the Management Excellence Awards in November.
