Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bid for new $100 million Rail CRC successful 

THE recent Rail CRC and industry joint bid for a new-from-existing CRC was successful, with a total funding of approximately $100 million pledged for rail research over the next 7 years.

PhotoID:3718 The Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Technology’s (DEST) CRC Program will contribute $21 million, with a further cash and in-kind contribution of approximately $80 million from the new Rail CRC Core Participants.

Rail CRC’s bid, led by the Australasian Rail Association (ARA), was one of 14 CRCs funded by DEST’s $310 million investment in world-class research and innovation.

The current Rail CRC is headquartered at CQU Rockhampton, and over the past 6 years has developed innovative technology and postgraduate programs for the Australian rail industry. The research outcomes have also attracted international commercialisation interest.

The new CRC will begin operation in July 2007, when the current CRC will wind down.
