More than 800 staff members from at least 88 teams will take place in CQU’s 10 000 Steps Challenge for workplaces.
The challenge will start with simultaneous launches in Rockhampton, Emerald, Bundaberg, Mackay and Gladstone on Monday, July 12 (at 12.30pm).
Staff members have been challenged to use pedometers and in their teams accumulate five million steps (the equivalent of walking across Australia) over an 8-12 week period. Participants will log their steps in the Step Log on the 10,000 Steps website (www.10000steps.org.au).
10 000 Steps is funded by Queensland Health and based at CQU, and is now being rolled out to Queensland and beyond after success in increasing physical activity awareness and levels in the Rockhampton community.
Health insurer MBF and Ergon Energy are among other large workplaces to get involved in the 10 000 Steps challenge. ENDS.
