Local IT specialist reveals help with Fiji project
Published on 15 November, 2007
CQU Adjunct Senior Lecturer Lynn Zelmer will give a free public seminar this week, from 10am-11am on Thursday November 15, revealing his track record of helping in Fiji.
All interested people are welcome at his research seminar on 'Web Design and Training for a Fijian NGO'.
The seminar will be delivered at CQU Rockhampton building 33/G.22 with video links to campuses at Bundaberg, Gladstone and Mackay.
Lynn Zelmer's most recent overseas assignment involved helping a small Fijian NGO redevelop its website and training its staff in the site's on-going maintenance. The success of the project can be attributed to the use of basic computer tools and skills, supplemented by more complex software only when necessary. The seminar will include a discussion of how the organisation was involved in re-designing the site, criteria for selecting an appropriate ISP, etc.
Dr Zelmer has been an Adjunct Senior Fellow and post-graduate student supervisor following his retirement from CQU staff. As well as teaching tai chi and managing several rail heritage web sites, he has completed overseas assignments in Vanuatu and Fiji helping local organisations improve their IT capabilities.
