Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Spotlight on Science Forum at CQU Bundaberg 

Teachers in the Bundaberg district have been invited to participate in the Spotlight on Science Wide Bay North District Science Forum at Central Queensland University Bundaberg, from October 24-26.

Workshops will include Online Pedagogy, Working Scientifically, ICTs (blogs, wiki and other web tools), Robotics and Great Explorations in Maths and Science (GEMS).

The event will be presented by CSIRO Science Education Centre (Anna Lehmann); Redcliffe State High School's Centre for Excellence in Maths, Science and Technology (Mr Jim Lowe); Bundaberg State High School (Ms Wendy Fasso); St Luke’s Anglican College, (Mr Nick Johnstone); and Kepnock State High School (Ms Sophia McLean).

CQU lecturer Ms Rosie Thrupp said that it is great to have such dedicated, professional science leaders who invest time in organising these events for the professional learning of their colleagues.

The forum will be officially opened by Executive Director of Schools, Wide Bay North, Ms Paula Anderson.
