Students from Rockhampton High School, North Rockhampton High School, Girls' Grammar, Mt Morgan High School, CQ Christian College, The Cathedral College and Glenmore High School were earlier this month (May 1) able to participate in a Career Industry Tour in Multimedia, Media and the Arts.
Thanks to Career Links Inc, students were able to spend a full day experiencing a range of activities in real work settings.
Glenmore High's Hayley Thompson (left) and Brittany Bunge were among the campus visitors
Career Links CQ organises tours in 10 different industry sectors on an annual basis so students can be exposed to a wide range of careers in their particular industry of interest, which helps them with making informed career choices and subject selections for their senior schooling.
Career Links Program Manager Sue Adams said the students started out earlier that day by visiting Radio SEAFM and the Rockhampton Art Gallery before traveling to Central Queensland University where they toured the Flexible Delivery services, participated in a performing arts workshop and were shown through the printery, graphic design and video production departments at DTLS.
Student comments included:
- More time at CQU would have been good
- Really enjoyed the performing arts tour - drama/singing section and video production
- All day was perfect!
- Was informative and helpful
- It was a great experience!
- Loved the hands on interaction
Career Links CQ is appreciative of CQU's pro-active involvement in this year's tours and is looking forward to building on this successful partnership in the development of future programs.
