Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adjuncts bring global perspective to tourism courses 

Two new adjunct professors are helping to ensure CQUniversity's tourism students gain a global perspective.

Adjunct Professor Thomas Bauer is a world-renowed expert on tourism policy and planning in the sensitive Antarctic environment. His experiences are being integrated into course content through a critical thinking activity on policy instruments for tourism in Antarctica.

Meanwhile, world-renowed study aboard expert and leader in sustainable development research Adjunct Professor Michael Tarrant is assisting with the delivery of sustainable tourism courses.

Head of Program for Tourism & Hospitality Steve Noakes says students are being prepared for a global tourism business environment with access to these leading exponents.
