Korean students cheer for home team

After seeing South Korea’s win against Spain on the weekend, Central Queesland University’s Korean students geared up for another magic match.

Twenty-nine Korean students, on a study tour visit to Central Queensland University, arrived in Rockhampton just in time to see South Korea fight it out on the field against Spain in the World Cup on Saturday. They also raised their voices and sent their cheers across the seas in support of their home team’s semi-final efforts on Tuesday night. But Korea lost. CQU’s Language Centre prepared theevening of soccer mania for the international students at Rockhampton Leagues Club.

CQU Language Centre’s Helen Stewart said the students are mostly second and third year university students from Ulsan College, Korea. Ulsan has featured several times as a venue for this year’s World Cup matches.

The Korean students, here to study English and cultural studies at CQU, are living with Homestay families in the region.
