CQUniversity has become an approved provider of the Australian Computer Society Professional Year Program in Computer Science, which is available for international students who wish to gain permanent residency in Australia...
The new program combines formal learning and workplace experience and is designed under guidelines developed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Details are at: http://professionalyear.cqu.edu.au/ .
CQUniversity Australia is also submitting an application to deliver the Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting in conjunction with CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the National Institute of Accountants (SMIPA).
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship says a Professional Year will:
- familiarise participants with the norms and values in the Australian workplaces as well as the Australian employment market and workplace culture;
- teach participants how to communicate effectively and professionally in the Australian workplace with colleagues, managers and clients ;
- include an internship (work experience) to educate participants about all aspects of work practices in an Australian company.
Completion of a recognised Professional Year will provide that person 10 bonus points under the General Skilled Migration points test.
