CQU staff are supporting Rockhampton's school science teachers and senior secondary students via a 'Cutting Edge Lecture Series'.
The series is conducted by CSIRO Education in collaboration with the Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts.
University biologist Dr Bob Newby has been involved in previous events (and organising a range of similar events) and the next in the series - from 4pm-6.30pm on Thursday June 19 - will feature Dr John McGrath, from the Capricornia Centre for Mucosal Immunology (CCMI) at CQU.
Dr McGrath's talk on Bacteria and your health: Friend or foe? will describe research at the CCMI involving the biology of middle ear infections and upper respiratory tract infections.
The event will also feature presentations by Maree Bowen from the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (Barcoding sheep: a new era of precision management) and from Kishore Prayaga from CSIRO Livestock Industries (Deciphering Horns Inheritance in Beef Cattle).
It will be held at the CQU Rockhampton Building 6/G03 lecture theatre. Details via education.sqld@csiro.au
