Having begun his career training with Rampton's Danzenergy Dance Studio in Gladstone, local personality Dale Pengelly had his first taste of major success as part of the ensemble in the Queensland Theatre Company performance of 'Hello Dolly', in 1982.

He went on from there to star as the Principal Dancer in all the major works of the Queensland Ballet through until 1986, then on to shows including 'Hot Shoe Shuffle', 'Sweet Charity', and 'Singin’ in The Rain' in 2001 and 2002, all under renowned director David Atkins. In 2003, he worked with Graeme Murphy and the Sydney Dance Company in 'Tivoli'.

Dale has also appeared as Buddy Ebsen, in 'Childstar', the telemovie directed by Nadia Tass and many other telemovies, television dramas, theatre productions and television commercials. He has appeared extensively on variety shows such as 'Hey Hey It’s Saturday', 'Ray Martin' and the TV Week Logie Awards. In 2004, he toured Australia, Singapore and Malaysia with a lead role in 'Saturday Night Fever'.

It is, however, his connection with 'The Boy From Oz', that has left a lasting impression. For two years, Dale understudied the role of Peter Allen as well as performing nightly on stage in two other roles. As a result of this, in 2000, Dale was invited to perform as the lead singer in 'The Prime Minister's Olympic Dinner - Peter Allen Tribute'.
