Published on 20 April, 2004
CQU Library has won the Institutional Recycling category at the inaugural Central Queensland Local Government Association's (CQLGA) Community Waste Savers Awards.
These awards, announced last weekend, were sponsored by Stanwell Corporation, Publishers National Environment Bureau and the Environmental Protection Authority, and were supported by ABC Capricornia.
Professor Bob Miles, Executive Director of CQU's Institute for Sustainable Regional Development, was a judge for the awards. Details about the awards are available via: http://www.cqwaste.org/Commwastsavaward2004.html .
The other finalists in this category were Hillcrest Hospital and Rockhampton City Council. Library staff recognise that their efforts in recycling not only minimise waste and lead to a more sustainable environment, but they also help the Library's budget bottom line. The winning recycling tips and tricks can be viewed at http://www.library.cqu.edu.au/ via the CQLGA Community Waste Savers Award link.
Specific thanks go to Myrna Hermann (pictured left), Kelli Graham (pictured right) and Jaron Stidiford (not available for photo) for co-ordinating the successful award submission on behalf of the Library.
