Graduate/Alumni functions held at Brisbane and the Gold Coast this month were a chance for former students to mingle and, in some cases, renew acquaintances.
Former Gladstone schoolmates and Bachelor of Engineering Co-op (2002) buddies, Jason Freyling and Kane Ivers enjoyed catching up during the Brisbane function on August 10, as it had been some time since they last met. Jason is currently undertaking the role of Gathering and Development - IC&E Engineer at Origin Energy and Kane works for Incitec Pivot Ltd as the Urea Plant E&I Engineer.

Graduate Relations Manager Jo Nitz said it was pleasing to see a mix of international and domestic student graduates, with many attendees originating from the Rockhampton Campus.
CQUniversity staff graduates in attendance included Brisbane Campus Director Trent McHenry (MBA 2006), Associate Director of Administration & Finance Kamal Gurung (BBus Mgt 1997 and MBA Information Systems 1999) and Patricia Hannan (BBus 1994).
Attendee Peter Purcell graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) and is currently working with UCHealth ISD as a Patient and Clinical Applications Manager. Peter was the earliest graduate who attended the Brisbane function, graduating in 1995.
Meanwhile, 15 guests at the Gold Coast Campus function (August 11) included Mike Zhang (Master of Information Systems, 2004). Mike has recently started his own business (Mike's Computer Services).

Gold Coast Campus Director Rod Williams, who helped greet guests, is currently undertaking a PhD through CQUniversity.
