CQU competitors headed for gold at NZ Masters Games

Ever wondered what happened at the CQU Mackay campus as the sun is going down? Preparation for the NZ Masters Games begins.

Equipped with shot putt, discus, javelin, measuring tape and boulders (for marking campus records), CQU Mackay’s Trish Robins and Associate Professor Helen Waite were found practising for this week’s Masters Games.

PhotoID:457 Dr Waite hoped to reproduce her golden effort from the 2002 Gay Games by winning her division in shot putt, discus and javelin.

The former PE teacher joins 7200 competitors from 6 to 8 February in Wanganui, New Zealand.

Ms Robins and Dr Waite plan to travel to the Pan Pacific Masters Games in Sacramento, California in July, then on to the US Masters national track and field championships in Oregon.
