Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Whiteboard a key instrument for Song Trails workshop 

Ideas were flowing from the audience, to the whiteboard and back again as guitar and vocal snippets during this week's Queensland Music Festival Song Trails program, co-presented by CQUniversity.

Song Trails is a series of free songwriting workshops in which participants can tap into the wealth of skill and experience of specially selected workshop leaders. LINK HERE TO VIDEO of the event

Boom Crash Opera's guitarist Peter Farnan curated a team of highly skilled and awarded songwriters for the Song Trails Central tour. Joining Peter were Rebecca Barnard formerly of Rebecca's Empire, Scott Edgar from Australian comedy act Tripod and Robert Forster, joint co-founder and songwriter of one of Australia's most iconic bands, The Go-Betweens.

Workshops were scheduled for Moranbah (July 27), Emerald (July 28), Rockhampton (July 29), Bundaberg (July 30), Nanango (July 31) and Brisbane (August 2).
