Pride of Workmanship Awards for Faculty staff

Faculty of Business & Informatics staff members Kerry Walz and Tracey Marxen have received 'Pride Of Workmanship Awards' from the Rotary Club of Rockhampton East.

Kerry, a Client Service Officer, and Tracey, a Faculty Admin Officer, received their awards during a Rotary function in mid-October.

PhotoID:3527 They were nominated by CQU lecturer and Rotarian Dawn Hay and supported by their supervisor Patricia Lieschke.

According to Patricia: "They were given the awards based on written confirmation of their client service skills, their strong work ethic and their commitment to providing support to students and staff of the Faculty to the highest level".

"They are always bright and cheery and more than willing to help in anyway they can. This ethos has been tested even more so since the Faculty has been undergoing a restructure, and their own personal feelings have not impacted on their ability to continue providing excellent service".

The Pride of Workmanship Awards have been given by Rotary Clubs around the world since 1976 and over 16,000 people have received the award.

These awards are not given out lightly. The recipients are identified by Rotary members and the extended Rotary family. The awards sit under the Vocational Service directorship and are awarded in October - Rotary's Vocational Service Month.

One of the objects of Rotary is to encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and the professions and to recognise the worthiness of all useful occupations - hence the Pride of Workmanship Award.

Incidentally, around the world, there are over over 1.2 million Rotarians in 32,000 Rotary Clubs in 168 countries.

For anyone who may be interested, the Rotary Club is having a Car Boot Sale on Sunday October 22 at the Northside Plaza Carpark, to raise funds for various charities.
