Students arrived on campus on Monday and activities kicked-off with a welcome dinner for students and their families.

Speaking at the dinner Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman applauded the students for attending the residential.

"It was a great effort to attend this residential school during your school holidays ... it shows real commitment," Prof Bowman told the students.

He also thanked the families who had travelled with the students to Rockhampton, some having travelled long distances to attend.

He particularly made mention of the Childers students who had caught a bus at 1am to arrive on time.

The CQUniversity Experience Residential is designed to raise student aspirations and awareness regarding tertiary education.
