CQU 2nd for onshore internationals

CQU has the second-largest cohort of international full-degree students studying in Australia.

Figures are not yet available to indicate which institution is leading in this category.

CQU also has the 16th largest cohort of international students on campus at offshore locations.

That is according to IDP Education Australia survey figures for Term 1 2005.

The report states that CQU had 9891 international students, representing 49% of its student population.

From Term 1 2004 to Term 1 2005, international enrolments across all Australian universities (for all combined categories) increased by 4.6% but CQU increased by 38.6%.

Taking into account full-degree students only, CQU increased 44.7% compared to the overall Australian figure of 9.4%.

CQU has Australia's largest cohorts of students from a range of countries (including India, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Thailand, Pakistan and Russia) and Australia's only student from a range of countries (including Estonia, Iraq and Moldova).

The University's growth from Term 1 2004 to Term 1 2005 includes a 126.8% increase from India, a 62.4% increase from China and a 47.5% increase from Bangladesh (and these are also our top three sources of enrolments).
