CQU's Professor Evelyn Hovenga recently returned from San Francisco where she attended the International Medical Informatics Association Board and General Assembly, the IMIA Nursing Informatics, and the IMIA Education working group meetings, the Medinfo2004 international conference and the ISO TC215 meetings as a member of the Australian delegation.
"In between I also attended meetings and social functions with health informatics leaders, the American MedicalInformatics Association (AMIA), the IMIA Medinfo steering committee, the IMIA senior officers club and the AMIA nursing informatics group," she said.
Another highlight was the launch of a book that Professor Hovenga has co-edited: 'Global Health Informatics Education'.
Professor Hovenga said another highlight was "being handed the gavel from the Chair of the Medinfo 2004 organising committee as I will chair the Medinfo2007 in Brisbane".
The CQU academic also attended a presentation by the founder of Medical Informatics Dr Francois Gremy, a mathematician, physicist, medical practitioner and informatician.
