Mr Kemsley, based at CQU Noosa Hub, not only conducted and facilitated the training day, he also acted in a consultancy role to help the departments develop their strategic plans.

There were 40 participants in the group, and the sessions were focused on practical application of skills in areas such as conflict management of staff and patients, dealing with difficult people, assertiveness, giving and receiving feedback, team building and leadership.

The staff then broke into individual health service departments and developed their strategic plans for the next 6 - 12 months.

Mr Kemsley is providing ongoing support to the individual departments in putting these plans into action over the next 6 months and he is working with individual teams in developing a team culture in nursing.

"This is part of the Department of Nursing and Health Studies regional engagement with local industry in developing healthily nursing communities across Queensland," he said.
