Students across CQ can hop on a bus to drive career further

Students throughout a region as big as a European country can hop on buses to attend CQUniversity's Student Careers Fair in Rockhampton on March 22.

But to ensure the buses are viable they need to register for the event, via www.cqu.edu.au/careersfair .

Careers Fair organisers Raleigh Wallace and Kellie Williams explained that all on-campus and distance education students across the CQ region were welcome to go to their nearest regional campus to catch buses leaving from Mackay, Emerald, Gladstone and Bundaberg.

To make their day-trip worthwhile, there'll be a free barbecue lunch and access to 40 major local, state and national employers, across the private and government sectors, including energy, defence, welfare, retail, health, mining, education and business. Employers for Student Careers Fair

The University hopes the Student Careers Fair will be a magnet, drawing employers and students from throughout the region and beyond.

Meanwhile, employers involved in the Fair will attend a corporate breakfast on the day of the event, at Rockhampton's Edge Restaurant.

The event itself has been arranged so students can either mingle among employer displays, or attend employer presentations throughout the day.

"The Careers Fair provides an opportunity for students to meet with prospective employers under the one roof to find out what graduate programs and opportunities are available to them; to check the key graduate attributes sought by employers and to start establishing career networks with their associated industries," Mr Wallace said.

He said employers could gain access to hundreds of students seeking graduate opportunities, while showcasing graduate recruitment programs to students seeking vacation work, workplace integrated learning, internships and graduate vacancy opportunities.

"Employers can establish relationships and networks with other key business and industry organisations and market their employer brand value proposition to potential employees," Mr Wallace said.
