Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Health students wear fancy dress for assessments 

Cross-dressing and body up-sizing proved popular when Central Queensland University Mackay health students recently conducted mock client health assessments.

PhotoID:320 Flaunting their frocks, loud shirts, walking canes and hats the first year students were extremely enthusiastic about making the medical interviews appear as realistic as possible according to Nursing and Health Studies lecturer Judi Parson . \"Just when everyone is feeling flat at the end of semester, we decided to have a bit of fun by dressing-up for the roles,\" she said.

\"The students are developing their interview skills as they need to realise the diversity and needs of different people.\" Interview questions related to the patient\'s medical history and included details about allergies, dietary habits, drug dependency, exercise routines and rest patterns.
