Sponsored by Queensland Education and Training International and the EIDOS Institute (public policy thinktank of which CQUniversity is a member), 'The Perfect Storm' will be held from Noon-2pm on Thursday October 21, at Brisbane's Marriott Hotel.
Speakers will address the role of international education in soft diplomacy and examine how Australia is faring in the global brain race.
Professor Rodan said he hoped to address the benefits of international students.
"They provide our own domestic students with an interculturally diverse learning environment which prepares them for the world," he said. "Graduates go back home (and to the other countries where they will work) with a positive message about Australia.
"Contrary to myth, we still need skills and we need a share of the best and the brightest to replenish our research student ranks and help with invention, innovation and entrepreneurship. We will also need some graduates to replace our baby boomer academics."
