CQU graduates end up in many interesting jobs and places.
Devendra Singh Baswal came to CQU Gold Coast from Dubai. He had obtained a Bachelor of Hospitality in India and started his career as a Management Trainee at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, Delhi. He joined Hotel Burj-Al-Arab in Dubai following his traineeship with the Hyatt.
After 2 years working in Dubai, Devendra decided to come to Australia to further his studies. Devendra told us he was attracted to CQU by the course structure offered, his helpful counsellor and the lovely weather and relaxing environment of the Gold Coast.
He enjoyed the benefits of studying at a small campus and was surprised to find he knew almost all the staff in the first week.
The lecturers were friendly and he says TECC and Client Services gave him outstanding support with their personalized and friendly approach, he especially noted Kerri Viragh’s assistance in finding his current position.
On completion of his degree Devendra took up a position as a Business Development Consultant at International Professional Services in Southport.
International Professional Services is a chartered accounting firm that provides a range of business services to businesses of all sizes.
According to Devendra the best thing about the job is the different types of clients and work, “Lots of doors are open to me to see what I enjoy most for the future.”.
When we asked him what advice he would give to current students Devendra suggested they work to improve their interpersonal skills along with their studies and make use of the resources provided by the University.
He also emphasized that good time management is essential while studying.
