CQU students tackle Brits in Rockhampton

Great Britain University rugby league teams will visit Rockhampton next month in the lead up to the Academic Test Series against Australia. The touring party of 59 will include two sides; the Great Britain Academic Lions, and the Academic Lions Cubs (under 19).

These teams will prepare for matches against Australia by taking on Central Queensland University and the CQU Norths Chargers (under 19 side), at Browne Park on July 9. The Central Queensland University side will consist mostly of the side which defeated James Cook University in April, minus 3 players who have been selected to play in the Australian University side. The Great Britain representative sides are expected to be stiff competition for the Rockhampton teams and have been training at Hull University for the past month. Central Queensland University will begin their preparation today under the watchful eye of Coach David Doyle.

The touring party will be in Rockhampton from July 5 – 10.
