Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Free concert goes back to Broadway 

Music Theatre students and staff from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) in Mackay will be performing this Sunday May 28 in a free concert in the Foyer of the Mackay Entertainment Centre.

PhotoID:2834 Commencing at 2pm, the 'Back on Broadway' concert will include some well-known songs from Broadway spectaculars of the past; including excerpts from ‘Mame’, Showboat’, ‘Man of La Mancha’ and ‘Sweet Charity’. Songs will include well-known favourites like ‘Old Man River’, ‘Impossible Dream’ and ‘Big Spender’.

Performing alongside the students will be Mark Gasser, internationally-acclaimed concert pianist and now lecturer in Music at the CQCM. Mark will be performing some Gershwin show tunes from Broadway shows which included ‘Porgy and Bess’, ‘Funny Face’ and ‘Girl Crazy’.
