Central Queensland University alumnus Tracey Pattie (nee Keitley) has recently been appointed as Director of Nursing at the Monto Hospital.
Born and raised in Monto, Tracey attended the Monto State High School, before pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing degree at CQU in Rockhampton. Tracey completed her degree in 1993.
She began her career as a registered nurse working for the Princess Alexandra and Greenslopes Private Hospital, before departing to Townsville where she gained her midwifery certificates at the Kirwan Women’s Hospital.
Now back at home at the 21-bed rural hospital in Monto [200km south-west of Bundaberg], Tracey is responsible for a different side of nursing: budgets, maintenance, staffing, clinical skills and for the hospital’s primary focus, the prevention and detection of illness.
Remembering her time at CQU Tracey said she enjoyed her time at the University and praised the quality of degree offered.
“The nursing degree was an excellent course which incorporated practical work placement to give valuable experience for commencing work as an RN,” Tracey said.
