Teachers chalk up experience of 'learner-centred' education
Published on 08 May, 2008
Teachers from Glenmore High and Rockhampton High gathered at CQU recently (May 2) to hear about remarkable improvements in learning outcomes that are possible by focusing on equipping the learner rather than the teacher or trainer.
They joined CQU education students and staff to hear from John Joseph, a visiting educational consultant from Focus Education .

Mr Joseph presented a range of directly applicable teaching and learning strategies for practitioners, based upon contemporary theory in learning and teaching.
He aims to assist teachers, parents and kids by creating environments in which they want to learn.
By increasing awareness of the biology and emotional states of the brain, Mr Joseph hopes teachers and parents can assist kids to develop "emotional intelligence" and also help them equip themselves with tools and strategies for a more positive learning experience.
