Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Carols in the Park with the CQCM 

Lecturer with the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM), Kim Kirkman will be leading the festivities in Mackay’s largest carols event, this Saturday December 10, from 5pm at Caneland’s Park.

PhotoID:2508 Special guest Ricki-Lee Coulter of Australian Idol fame will be headlining, and the evening will include performances from some of the CQCM’s most talented, including Cilla Slack and Kristy Gee. Other guest artists include Neil Young, Aka Pel and Karen Bonham.

This free community event will also feature The Harmonics, dancers from Theatre Arts Mackay and the Opera Singing Santa!.

Kim Kirkman will be conducting the local band made up of members of the Mackay community and students from the CQCM and according to Kim, “we’ll be swinging in the season, so yule just have to be there!”.
