CQUniversity's Professor Elizabeth Taylor AO recently attended the launch of the Engineers for the Future report in Sydney.
The immediate past national president of Engineers Australia, Julie Hammer (pictured left) launched the report which addresses the supply and quality of Australian engineering graduates for the 21st century.
Pictured right is Professor Taylor who is a Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering & Health and was until recently president of the Australian Council of Engineering Deans.
They are with the chair of the report's steering committee Professor Mary O'Kane (centre), who was also recently appointed as NSW's first chief scientist and scientific engineer.
According to the report, ensuring enough engineers for the future will require improved engineering courses and the attraction of people from more diverse backgrounds, as well as retraining of engineers who have left the profession and mature-age engineers.
