Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Another national award for Performing Arts mentor  

Congratulations to long-time CQU Performing Arts industry mentor Wayne Scott Kermond, currently performing as Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls in Melbourne.

Wayne received the Brian Stacey Male Musical Performer of the Year Mo Award on Wednesday night (June 18), for his own produced, directed and choreographed show Candy Man, in which he plays the lead role.

Wayne and his wife Katie have had a 6-year association as industry mentors with the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) program.

Katie is currently producer and choreographer for the upcoming BPA production of Sweet Charity, due to be staged at the Pilbeam Theatre in October.
