CQCM graduate produces a Logie Award nomination

Carla de Jong, graduate of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) and producer of Network Ten’s children’s science show ‘SCOPE’, has now reached another milestone in her career, with her first ever Logie Award nomination.

'SCOPE’ has been nominated for Most Outstanding Children’s Program, a fact that is no doubt the highlight of Carla’s career so far and quite an achievement for everyone on the SCOPE team.

The show has obviously attracted the attention of viewers in a very short space of time.

Carla completed her Bachelor of Music Theatre in 1998 from the CQCM and said her time at the Conservatorium has helped her to achieve in her career.

“I found in particular the industry experience, the opportunity to work with professionals already in the industry and the contacts I made while studying at the CQCM, really helped to get my career up and running”, she said.

Carla’s career gained momentum when she joined the television industry in 2003 and became producer of Network Ten’s award winning children’s television show ‘Totally Wild’. Now, as the producer of ‘SCOPE’, Carla says her life is very exciting and very busy.

“Believe it or not, I hired Carla three years ago with Scope in mind,” said Geoff Cooper, Ten’s Executive Producer of Children’s Television. “We were developing a cutting edge science show for kids, but I hadn’t found the right person to run the production. After one interview with Carla I knew that, with the proper development, she could be that person".

PhotoID:2828 “The whole team is very excited [about the Logie nomination] and we have our fingers crossed, but we're up against some very good competition so we're just really pleased to be nominated at all”, said Carla.

The Logie Award winners will be announced this Sunday May 7 on the Nine Network.
