Dale dances back into Gladstone

Dancing star, Dale Pengelly’s return to Gladstone this week will help one young aspiring performer from the region to follow their dreams.

Dale performed in two concerts this week and all proceeds raised will go towards a scholarship to enable a student from the Gladstone region to enrol in CQU’s Bachelor of Performing Arts.

PhotoID:1971 Dale Pengelly, who has performed in the 'David Atkins Hot Shoe Shuffle' and musicals such as 'Singin’ in the Rain' and 'The Boy From Oz' will also star as DJ Monty in the touring production of 'Saturday Night Fever' which opens in Brisbane on July 29.

Dale started his career in Gladstone as a youngster and said that the concert was all about giving something back to the city that supported his teenage ambition to become a dancer.

“Back in 1979, the performing community of Gladstone organised a benefit concert that ended up paying for my first year fees at the Australian Ballet School. I’m delighted to launch this scholarship to help another young performer,” said Mr Pengelly.

CQU’s organiser of the concert, Fay Owens, said it had been a huge success, not only through the money raised, but the enjoyment the concert gave to the community.

“The scholarship that will ensue from this concert will be a lasting legacy to all aspiring performers in the Gladstone region.

“We thank Dale and all those who helped this concert become a reality including Rampton’s Danzenergy, Jetset Gladstone, the Gladstone Observer, PFT Caterers, ABC Capricornia and 4CC,” said Mrs Owens.
