Academics sign up for career development

A career development program for early career academics and senior academics, known as Academe, has recently started on CQUniversity Rockhampton Campus.

This program is offered as a follow-up to the successful Early Career Academic Program operating between 2007 and 2008.

Academe coordinator Dale Trott said Academe has evolved as a career development program that is inclusive of both early career academics and senior academics; both are in need of the universities support.

"This 6-week program offers participants the necessary tools to set goals and define their careers in a meaningful way," Mr Trott said.

"The program assists academics to view the wider aspects of their career such as community engagement and leadership.

"Our professional presenters, both institutional and industry placed, provide practical advice on measures that will assist their career development as academics as well as engage them in the necessary discussions that have to take place as part of planning a career.

This Academe course is supported by both the Centre for Workforce Planning, Professional Development & Organisational Learning (CWPPDOL), Chancellery, as well as the Office of Development and Graduate Relations.
