Caitlin Bowmaker and Joshua Widdon were all smiles when they were presented with their scholarships from the (former) Faculty of Education & Creative Arts at Central Queensland University Bundaberg.
Caitlin received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Learning which is awarded to a student commencing a teaching degree who demonstrates an outstanding achievement at secondary school, particularly in English, Mathematics and Science.
“Caitlin submitted an exceptional application and clearly demonstrated an outstanding achievement in the required areas which made her a standout for this scholarship,” said Associate Professor Ken Purnell, Associate Dean Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.
The scholarship is valued at $2000 and will be used towards text books and course fees.
“I am very happy to receive this scholarship and I encourage anyone to apply,” Caitlin said.
Joshua Widdon was also pleased at receiving his $1000 Bachelor of Learning Management Program Entry Scholarship.
Joshua demonstrated an outstanding academic achievement at secondary school, with a high level of performance in English, LOTE, Science, Mathematics or Information Technology.
Acting Head of Campus, Dr Helen Huntly said that she was proud that of the few scholarships available to approximately 450 first-year students across 6 campuses, 2 awards were presented to Bundaberg students.
“These scholarships are merit-based and will assist Caitlin and Joshua with the study costs associated with their degree program".
