In line with the University's stated commitment to match its staff requirements to student numbers, Central Queensland University today announced that it will support 46 staff who have elected to take Voluntary Separation, and a further 22 staff will complete their fixed term contracts at the end of their current contract period.
Today's announcement follows the non-renewal of 34 fixed-term contracts at the end of June.
CQU has been involved in an extensive consultation process with its staff and their representatives about the need to match its workforce in response to softer demand from students across both the international and domestic sectors.
The University has commenced a major marketing campaign to lift domestic student numbers.
The University has reiterated its commitment to continued consultation with staff members ahead of any future decisions about staff cuts. Over the last eight weeks numerous work-group consultative meetings have been held across the University.
CQU is also continuing its comprehensive re-engineering and restructure to provide a better work environment, and new options for students.
It is also continuing major technological upgrades and rolling out a most extensive advertising campaign and strategic marketing process to boost its domestic student numbers.
