Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Ken Bruce invited to Seattle for financial planning meet 

The State Director Victoria of CQU's Melbourne International Campus, Associate Professor Ken Bruce presented a paper for the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) Education Advisory Panel meeting in Seattle, USA on September 6-7.

The FPSB manages, develops and operates certification, education and related programs for financial planning organisations so that they can benefit and protect the global community by establishing, upholding and promoting worldwide professional standards in personal financial planning.

FPSB's commitment to excellence is represented by the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and CFP® marks. (Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. owns the marks above outside the U.S. and permits qualified individuals to use these marks to indicate that they have met FPSB's initial and ongoing certification requirements.)

The Financial Planning Association of Australia (http://www.fpa.asn.au/ ) is an affiliate member of the FPSB.

CQU will offer a Bachelor of Financial Planning program in 2008.

The FPSB's meeting was in conjunction with the USA Financial Planning Association's Annual Convention.

Professor Bruce is one of 14 experts invited from countries such as France, the UK, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia and the US to present papers and conduct workshops on the global body of knowledge of financial planning which underpins education and training programs.
