Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Find your new career at the Rocky Expo 

The Rockhampton Careers Expo is being held next week, Thursday August 24, from 1pm until 7pm at the Rockhampton Showgrounds Exhibition Hall.

Up to 50 different education providers, recruitment agencies, and careers advisors will be on hand for school leavers and mature-aged people wanting to access information.

Central Queensland University will join other Queensland universities, TAFE, private training and education providers, recruitment agencies, Australian Army, Airforce and Navy, Queensland Police and other careers advisors at this exhibition.

CQU Recruitment Officer Tony Gubbins said the expo had been held in Rockhampton for over 20 years.

“I have been attending this expo for about 10 years and it is always very well attended,” he said.

“The organizations attending will be able to provide people with information on an array of careers and study opportunities".
