Brushes with alumni in Dubai make planet seem smaller

Former Melbourne Campus Director Darryl Stewart, now Country Recruitment Manager for CQUniversity, recalls that the planet felt a bit smaller when he stopped over in Dubai recently...

"I have just returned from a recruitment trip to Mauritius and Africa and, during my half-day stopover in Dubai, I bumped into not 1 but 4 CQUniversity Alumni inside 4 hours," Darryl says.

He remembers taking a bus tour from the hotel with 7 others.

"Whilst on the bus chatting with a young couple I discovered that the young lady, Khushlboo Darji, had just completed her degree at CQUniversity Sydney International Campus.

"A little bit later, having overheard this conversation, another young lady, Komal Patel, informed us that she too was a graduate from Sydney. She has completed her Bachelor of Multimedia degree and has now opened an advertising agency in Sydney with her partner."

On completion of the 4-hour discovery tour of Dubai city and enjoying a cold drink with a Japanese visitor, Darryl was approached by 2 young men, one who he recognised as an ex-Melbourne Campus graduate.

"He happened to be travelling with his cousin who had just finished his degree at Sydney Campus. To be recognised by 'Mr Darryl' he said was a personal highlight, particularly so far from Melbourne."

Darrly says his experience is further proof that you cannot hide anywhere on this planet without bumping into a CQUniversity graduate.
