IT specialists recognised

Three Central Queensland University Rockhampton Information Technology professionals have been recognised at the highest level in their industry.

ITD corporate systems administration team members Andrew Whyte, Dan Yarrow and Brad Marshall received awards at the annual SAGE-AU conference dinner recently in Hobart.

Andrew was recognised for his services to the Systems Administrators Guild of Australia for his redesign of the Guild’s online members services and back office systems.

Dan was recognised for his outstanding technical contribution to helping peers who needed assistance in various online forums.

And, Brad was recognised for his submission of articles that have been published in the quarterly magazine - SAGE-AU Advice - and for his continued work in mailing list management and mentoring of young newcomers to the profession.

In another major coup, the Queensland Chapter of SAGE-AU was award the coveted State of the Year prize, chiefly for its establishment of the Rockhampton chapter, the first outside a capital city.

This was a direct result of Andrew’s work around Central Queensland in establishing regular meetings of IT professionals in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Gladstone areas.

Four members of the Rockhampton chapter attended the conference. The fourth, Adrian Yarrow, said it was an honour for CQU staff to be recognised as leaders in their field.
