National magazine profiles new InfoCom academic

New CQU Faculty of Informatics and Communication academic Dr Carol Steiner is featured in a multi-page spread in this month's Australian Financial Review Boss magazine.

PhotoID:1289 Dr Steiner is quoted as a corporate philosopher based on her research at companies like Vision Systems.

The article relates how Dr Steiner espouses the notion of authenticity as a way of driving innovation and corporate renewal; that is, workers who are comfortable with their own ideals don't feel compelled to act out stereotypical roles.

The article quotes Dr Steiner as saying: "When the innovator relates to the world as a unique and authentic individual, he or she can get some fantastic results because they look at problems differently from the way their fellow workers looked at it. And that's where innovation and creativity come from. Creativity is simply seeing the world differently from everybody else." Dr Steiner is based with the School of Contemporary Communication and is located at CQU Mackay.

Before arriving at CQU, Dr Steiner was based in Melbourne where she operated a consultancy called Jitter Philosophical Services.
